AI might be Tech's latest hoax, but is that a bad thing?

Tech has always been a FOMO-driven industry. In the grand scheme of things, we humans are wired to experience FOMO to keep up with our peers in hunting and gathering.

Fast forward to Tech, I guess we’re all avoiding to be another Mike Lazaridis. Had he chosen to embrace tech trends - seemingly fleeting trends at the time such as touch screens and smart phones, it’s highly possible that I’m typing all of these on a Blackberry instead of an Iphone in 2024 The cost of clinging to and overhyping a declining / over-promised technology is high. But the cost of missing out on the innovation of the century and being left behind is even higher.

Furthermore, these trends somewhat power our innovations. Big Data, Mobile Apps, and Web3 might not miraculously transform the world overnight as promised by the tech gurus; they still have had a long lasting impact on our technological advancements.

In many ways, this is exactly how capitalism works. Banks and the private sector naturally flock to where the money is. And if that money fuels innovations; shouldn’t we celebrate this progress for humanity?
